The RCIA Process

In these pages we explore the process itself and the tools and resources which you will use in implementing RCIA in your community

Initiation into the Catholic faith is one of the key elements of the mission and work of disciples.  Initiation involves all the baptised.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the normative way of bringing people into the Church, and grounds all initiatory rites of the Catholic Church.  The pattern outlined within the Rite gives direction and inspiration for all forms of initiation and catechesis.

Becoming Catholic is a gradual process that takes place within the parish community. The RCIA is not a program, but a sacramental formation process that prepares individuals and communities for a particular way of life.   Conversion is at the heart of that way of life.

The process is made up of a number of stages.  A community ceremony (Rite) acts as a starting point into the next stage.
